What is a Resolution?
Resolutions are issued at the discretion of Representative Lynn to constituents in her district in order to congratulate, honor or memorialize outstanding individuals, or to recognize a day, week, or month for a cause of significant statewide interest. Resolutions are voted on by the General Assembly and signed by Rep. Lynn, the Speaker of the House, the Speaker of the Senate and the Governor. Resolutions are strictly honorary and are not legally binding but they are recorded in the official record of the General Assembly for generations to come. All Resolutions require suggested language.
Timing your Request
Requests must be made no less than 21 business days in advance. Resolutions are only available during legislative Session. Outside of Session, a Proclamation will be issued.
About Requesting a Resolution
Requests that are similar to a Resolution previously issued the same year must be declined, but a copy of the similar Resolution will be provided instead.
For example, if "Crime Watch Day" is proclaimed on January 1, then "Crime Watch Week" or "Crime Watch Month" will not be proclaimed later in the year. Tennessee organizations are encouraged to coordinate their efforts with other similar groups before contacting the Governor’s Office. Organizations are encouraged to request Resolutions that coincide with national or state-designated dates.
Any language submitted may be edited, rewritten, or rejected. A maximum of 5 copies will be issued per Resolution, per year, per constituent.
There is a cost to Rep. Lynn for Resolutions so we request that requests for Resolutions be for truly significant honors, memorials or dates. Other events can be recognized by requesting a congratulatory letter or certificate which bares no cost.
